ServiceCore’s First Sponsored Athlete!

Go-Kart Athlete: Michael

ServiceCore is happy to announce we have sponsored our first athlete, Michael! Back in December, Ryan Henry, a leader in the portable toilet space posted a story about an 8 year old boy, Michael Hill, who had a very rough year. Michael badly wanted to start go-kart racing and Ryan felt like the portable toilet industry could make that happen.

Ryan and Laura Henry started reaching out to the waste industry for help to see if making Michael’s dream to race go-karts was possible. In March, Ryan Henry reached out to ServicCore’s co-founder, John Gadeken, about Michael Hill and ServiceCore was excited to help. So this year, ServiceCore has had the privilege of sponsoring Michael’s go-kart dreams!

In April Ryan and Michael drove from Pennsylvania to Akron, Ohio and picked up Michael’s go-kart. The owner of the store generously gave Michael a huge discount to the point that they sold the kart for below cost. Another business owner in Ryan’s area purchased the motor and Ryan was able to get everything set up for Michael so that by April he was beginning to practice racing.

Michael’s first race was May 8th, 2021 and it was a wild experience! Michael ended up running hot laps and also had a chance to run in a heat race! Four laps in, he spun out in the rain leaving him in a vulnerable position. Two of the karts behind him ended up slamming into him pretty hard. Michael was not injured, but he was understandably a bit shaken up. Luckily the kart racers are strapped in well to help minimize injuries.

We, at ServiceCore are so excited to be a part of this experience and be able to help Michael chase a dream. We can’t wait to see how his next race goes!
