ServiceCore Employee Spotlight: Maddie, Senior Finance Manager

We know a lot of companies say this, but here at ServiceCore, we think our customers are the greatest. Since we designed our tool to specifically meet the needs of portable, septic, and dumpster rental businesses, we feel like we know our customers pretty darn well – so we figured it’s only fair we return the favor!

Introducing our monthly Employee Spotlight series, where you can get to know a ServiceCore employee a little better and get an inside peek at the team helping you grow your portable sanitation business.

This month, we caught up with Maddie, our Senior Finance Manager.

Please share a couple of facts about the career journey that brought you to ServiceCore.

Hi! My name is Maddie, and I’m the Senior Finance Manager here at ServiceCore. I am actually a CPA and started my career on the accounting side of the house. After a couple of years in public accounting, I became very interested in the strategic, forward-thinking side of financial information, so I pivoted into finance in the medical device industry and quickly fell in love. I’m now starting my third year in finance!

How long have you been working at ServiceCore?

I started at ServiceCore in July 2022, so I’ve been here just over a year.

What’s your role here at ServiceCore? / How do you spend your day?

Finance can be a confusing area. To put it simply, I use our financial data to tell stories. This may include understanding how ServiceCore performed last month, finding trends amongst groups of customers, or projecting what resources we need in the future. I also get the joy of partnering with departments across the organization, including Implementation, Customer Support, Sales, and Payments. All in all, if dollar signs are involved, Finance probably is too!

When you’re not working, how do you like to spend your free time?

I love traveling and experiencing new cultures and perspectives. We went to Israel, Mexico, and the Netherlands last year, and South Africa is next on the horizon! When I’m not traveling, you’ll find me hiking, camping, cooking, skiing, doing yoga, or enjoying a good glass of red wine.

Can you tell us about one of your favorite / most memorable ServiceCore memories?

I’ll never forget the day we announced we were acquiring Docket. It was the first time I had ever been involved in an acquisition. A lot of hard work came to fruition, and the company was BUZZING with excitement for the next chapter!

If you could give ServiceCore users one tip, what would it be?

Take advantage of your implementation team throughout the onboarding process. Many of these folks are former operators and have been in your exact shoes, and they’re ready to hold your hand every step of the way with patience, kindness, and lots of knowledge-sharing.

If you could suggest one piece of ServiceCore content (blog post, case study, ToiletTalk episode, benchmark report, etc.) to read/listen to TODAY, which would it be?

I LOVE our case studies! They’re a great way to get a glimpse into our customers’ everyday lives and see our product in action.

If ServiceCore had a mascot, what would it be?

While there are a lot of funny mascots we could have, I think our mascot would be a heart. My favorite core value at ServiceCore is “Love Our Customers.” I am incredibly inspired by our people’s embodiment of this core value, whether it’s understanding how we can improve our customers’ lives in the sales process, holding our customers’ hands every step of the way through implementation, or supporting our existing customers with questions. We’re here to enrich our customers’ lives, and every one of our people works hard to do exactly that.

What are your hopes for ServiceCore in the future?

I can’t wait to watch our growth. We’re an entirely different company than we were 14 months ago when I joined – new product offerings, new people, new processes, and more. If the next 14 months are anything like the first 14, I absolutely can’t wait.
