Introduction
Host: What’s up, guys? I’m here with Rob. He’s the CEO of Total Sanitation. They’re the largest portable sanitation company in all of Canada, and they went through a process of trying to find software that would fit their business and their needs. Rob is here today to tell you about that process.
Rob: So, we put an implementation team together of about 10 different employees, and they all had different roles within our organization, right from a general manager to accounts payable to accounts receivable to dispatch. We had them all sitting on every presentation that we had software companies come in to review their system and go through the demo.
What that did for us is it got past the sales pitch pretty quick because everyone coming in comes in strong with their elevator pitch, and it got right down into the weeds quickly on that first meeting. We really judged how the software companies were able to respond to those detailed level questions that meant everything to the person asking the question because that was their day-to-day job.
When we were done and reassessed and recapped everything that we had heard from each of the different software companies, ServiceCore stood out above all the others. It didn’t matter which element or factor was coming in from the side; it was a unanimous decision that ServiceCore would be able to meet our needs best. More importantly, they would be able to work with us as we grew, both coming from similar private equity-backed backgrounds, both making those investments in their product, and trying to deliver outstanding customer service. That whole fit seemed to be the right fit for us, and we’re excited to see where this goes.
One thing I would add is we’re going live in a week and a half, and we’re definitely scared. I’ve been in business a long time in my career. I have never heard of one system implementation change that went smoothly and went right the first time, so I think it’s important to recognize that from the beginning and lead with that. I know we’re going to make mistakes. I know they’re going to get frustrated with the process. They’re not going to be able to do things the way they’ve always done it, but it’s so necessary to take that plunge and conquer that fear to get to the next level where we want to go because our current systems aren’t going to get us there.
